description:
influx is a sound sculpture and temporary installation comprised of seven chairs arranged in a circle, with a sound sculpture integrated into the bodies of the chairs. Inspiration came from the history of Los Alamos as it pertains to the Manhattan Project; particularly how nuclear testing, scientific discoveries continue to have a lasting impact on the region. The chair, as a universal symbol of power and status, was the perfect medium to tie together past and present, people and ideas, the natural environment and subsequent nuclear impact.
